Formula & Step-by-Step Breakdown
Merit = Subject 1 + Subject 2 + Subject 3 + Subject 4 (each CUET subject out of 250, total out of 1000)
Official Steps
-
1
Subject Scale Verification
Each CUET UG subject is 50 questions x +5 marks = 250 marks, and DU CSAS only considers subjects appeared in CUET that the candidate passed in Class 12.
4 Subjects x 250 Marks each = 1000 Marks
Example: 235 + 240 + 230 + 225
-
2
Aggregate Course Merit Calculation
The sum of the mapped eligible subjects forms your CSAS merit score.
Merit = Sub1 + Sub2 + Sub3 + Sub4
Example: 235 + 240 + 230 + 225 = 930.00 / 1000
Official Tie-Breaking Order
- Higher percentage of marks aggregate in best 3 subjects in Class 12
- Higher percentage of marks aggregate in best 4 subjects in Class 12
- Higher percentage of marks in best 5 subjects in Class 12
- Age of the candidate (older candidate preferred)

What this cutoff score means
The number this calculator produces is your merit or cutoff score, measured out of 1000. University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) does not publish a rank directly from your marks; it converts your marks into this single normalised score and then ranks every eligible candidate against it.
During counselling, your score is compared against the closing cutoff of each course and college. If your score is at or above the closing score for a course in your preferred college list, you become eligible to be offered that seat in that round. Cutoffs move every year because candidate volume, exam difficulty and the reservation seat matrix all change, so treat this number as an estimate of your position — not a guaranteed admission.
The score alone is not enough. Your reservation category, your domicile, the quota you are eligible for (such as management, minority, or government quota), and the number of seats available in that course all feed into the final allotment. If two candidates land on the same score, the tie-breaking order published by University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) decides who is placed higher.
Because this rule is not a single exam score, it combines 4 separate inputs. Enter each value exactly as printed on your own marksheet — the official formula only works on the same scale the authority used.
What you need to enter
University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) builds this cutoff from the following values. Take the numbers from your own Class 12 marksheet or entrance scorecard — do not round or estimate them.
| Input | Range | Unit | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sub 1 (Lang) Subject 1 (e.g. Language / English) | 0 to 250 (step 0.5) | out of 250 | CUET score in Language (e.g. English). A CUET UG subject is 50 questions x 5 marks = 250 |
| Sub 2 (Domain) Subject 2 (Domain 1) | 0 to 250 (step 0.5) | out of 250 | CUET score in Domain Subject 1 |
| Sub 3 (Domain) Subject 3 (Domain 2) | 0 to 250 (step 0.5) | out of 250 | CUET score in Domain Subject 2 |
| Sub 4 (Domain/Math) Subject 4 (Domain 3 / Math / General) | 0 to 250 (step 0.5) | out of 250 | CUET score in Domain Subject 3. For a 3-subject science programme the CSAS sum is out of 750; enter the three mapped subjects plus 0 here and read your result as a percentage of 1000 |
Practical marks and internal assessment are included when the authority includes them. Check the official brochure on admission.uod.ac.in before entering values.
Formula & step-by-step breakdown
Governing equation
Merit = Subject 1 + Subject 2 + Subject 3 + Subject 4 (each CUET subject out of 250, total out of 1000)
Final merit score: 1000 marks (/ 1000). This is the exact rule published by University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) for 2025-2026 admissions.
Printed notation
Merit (out of 1000) = Subject 1 (250) + Subject 2 (250) + Subject 3 (250) + Subject 4 (250)
Exactly as written in the official admission brochure. Shown as plain text for clarity.
Step-by-step calculation
Work through these 2 steps in order and you will arrive at the same score this page calculates for you. Each step is the published rule, not an approximation.

Official rules & eligibility
These are the conditions published by University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal). A strong cutoff score does not help if you fail any of them.
Mandated by University of Delhi CSAS (UG) Admission Policy.
Candidates must have studied and passed the chosen subjects in Class 12.
Each CUET UG subject carries 250 marks (50 questions x +5).
For B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons): Merit is calculated from 1 Language + 3 Domain subjects out of 1000 marks.
For B.Sc. (Hons) Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics: the CSAS subject-merit sum is out of 750 (Language requires min 30% qualifying). This calculator always uses the full four-subject /1000 scale, so read your result as a percentage of 1000 and compare it with the percentage published for your course.
Tie-breaking order
When two or more applicants land on exactly the same cutoff score, University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) resolves the rank position using the following hierarchy, in order:
- 1. Higher percentage of marks aggregate in best 3 subjects in Class 12
- 2. Higher percentage of marks aggregate in best 4 subjects in Class 12
- 3. Higher percentage of marks in best 5 subjects in Class 12
- 4. Age of the candidate (older candidate preferred)
Your final rank also depends on your reservation category, domicile and the seats available in the round. Two candidates with identical scores and identical subject marks can still finish in different positions because a reserved candidate is ranked within the reserved list for that course.
DU CUET Merit questions answered
The questions students ask most about this specific admission rule.
Can I include a subject in CUET that I did not take in Class 12?
No. Delhi University CSAS rules strictly state that only subjects appeared in CUET which match the subjects passed in Class 12 are considered.
Why does this calculator always show a total out of 1000?
Because the calculator cannot detect a three-subject course from your marks alone — a genuine zero in the fourth subject must not silently rescale your score. So it always uses the official four-subject /1000 scale (4 x 250). If you are applying to a three-subject science programme whose CSAS sum is out of 750, enter your three mapped subjects with 0 in the fourth field and compare the resulting percentage against the percentage published for your course.
How DU CUET Merit compares to other entrance exams
Cutoff scores are not comparable across exams because each authority normalises differently. What you can compare is the structure of each rule: the maximum score, how many inputs it takes, and how the components are weighted.
| Calculator | State | Max score | Weighting rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| DU CUET Merit This page | Delhi (Central University) | 1000 / 1000 | Merit = Subject 1 + Subject 2 + Subject 3 + Subject 4 (each CUET subject out of 250, total out of 1000) |
| TNEA Engineering | Tamil Nadu | 200 / 200 | Cutoff = Mathematics + (Physics / 2) + (Chemistry / 2) |
| TNAU Agriculture | Tamil Nadu | 200 / 200 | Cutoff = (Physics / 2) + (Chemistry / 2) + (Biology / 2) + (4th Subject / 2) — Biology may be one 100-mark subject or the SUM of Botany + Zoology (out of 200) |
| KCET Engineering | Karnataka | 100 % / 100 | Combined Score = ((Board PCM / 300) * 50) + ((KCET PCM / 180) * 50) |
| EAPCET Cutoff | Andhra Pradesh & Telangana | 100 / 100 | Composite = ((EAPCET Score / 160) * 75) + ((Inter Group % / 100) * 25) |

What to do after you get your cutoff
-
1. Compare against last year's closing cutoff
Find the closing score for each of your preferred colleges and branches for 2025-2026, then check whether your score clears it. Closing cutoffs, not opening cutoffs, are the realistic benchmark.
-
2. Register for counselling on the official portal
Only University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) can allot you a seat. Complete the counselling registration on the official website, keep the application number safe, and pay the counselling fee within the published deadline.
-
3. Get your certificates ready early
Community, nativity, income and disability certificates take weeks. Apply through your school or the taluk office as soon as the certificate window opens, because you cannot choose a preferred college without them.
-
4. Build a wide preference list
University of Delhi (CSAS UG Portal) usually allots in rounds. A long, realistic preference list of colleges and branches protects you if your first choice is filled in an earlier round.
-
5. Keep a second option in a nearby state
Cutoff scores move every year, so keep a realistic backup course or college ready rather than betting on one target score.
-
6. Save or share your result
Use the share or copy button above to keep a record of the score and the inputs you used — it hands you text you can paste anywhere. Printing still works from the browser's own Ctrl + P, which leaves out the controls and keeps the score, the breakdown and the formula. Both help when filling the counselling form and when checking with a mentor.
Looking at a different state?
If you are also applying outside Delhi (Central University), these admission rules are governed by different authorities with different weightage formulas, so their cutoff scores are not directly comparable with yours.
